Digital peer-to-peer (P2P) payment services, like Popmoney®, are a convenient way to send and receive money among your circle of friends and family.
Picture this: You’re hanging out with friends and everyone decides to go into a nearby eatery for some late-night snacks. Oops! You didn’t plan for this and you don’t have enough cash on hand or a credit card. No worries! Use the Popmoney account linked to your smartphone to pay back your friends.
Simple set up
Setting up an account is easy and it’s free* when you have an account or debit card with Macatawa Bank. It’s convenient, too! Use Popmoney from your online banking account and mobile banking app.
When you send money to a friend or family member, they get an email or text notification that the funds have been sent. In as little as one to three days the money is deposited into their bank account.
When you request money from someone, they’ll get a similar notification asking to pay the requested amount. After the money is sent, you’ll be alerted when the money is in your account.
What about security?
Popmoney sends a one-time verification code to the mobile number or email address where the payment notification was sent to prevent an unauthorized transaction. The user must send the verification code back to Popmoney to authenticate their mobile number or email address before the payment can be deposited.
