Student-Produced Commercials to Vie for Cash Prize, Opportunity to Air on Local TV
Macatawa Bank is inviting students from more than 60 West Michigan high schools to participate in the 2nd Annual “Ravin about Savin,” contest to promote the benefits of saving.
Area high schoolers enrolled in Dave Ramsey’s Foundations in Personal Finance curriculum, a Macatawa Bank-sponsored, in-school financial literacy program, have the opportunity to create a 30-second television commercial focused on the importance of smart financial stewardship. The high school that sponsors the winning team will receive a cash donation of $2,000 for their school. In addition, the winning team will receive $500 to be divided equally among all team members. If the winning television spot is one that Macatawa Bank is interested in running, they will professionally produce the spot and run it on Fox 17 in 2012.
Student commercials will be judged based on their creativity, originality, and effectiveness in delivering a message supporting the value of saving. Entries will be evaluated by panel of judges from Fox-17, Sabo Public Relations, and Macatawa Bank. The winning commercial will be announced on January 13, 2012.
The “Ravin about Savin” contest includes the following criteria:
• Participants must be enrolled in their school’s Macatawa Bank-sponsored Foundations in Personal Finance program
• Entries should promote the value of personal saving in a creative, original 30-second “TV commercial” format
• Any copyrighted material that is not the entrants’, including songs, music, lyrics or phrases, cannot be used
• Teams must register to participate no later than November 1, 2011.
• Entries should be submitted on a CD or DVD, and postmarked by December 9, 2011 and received by December 16, 2011.

1. General Description:
The 2nd Annual "Ravin About Savin" Commercial Contest (the "Contest") is being sponsored by Macatawa Bank, a Michigan banking corporation, located at 10753 Macatawa Drive, Holland, Michigan 49424 .
Entry and registration in the Contest must be completed by mailing the 2nd Annual "Ravin About Savin" Official Registration form to Macatawa Bank Marketing Department, PO Box 3119, Holland, MI 49422-3119, no later than November 1, 2011. Each team must submit a registration form for each member of the team. By registering, each team member unconditionally agrees to, and accepts, these Official Contest Rules. Registration for team members under the age of eighteen (18) must be submitted by their parent or legal guardian. Registration must be completed by November 1, 2011 (the "Registration Deadline"). Submission of completed entries must be postmarked by December 9, 2011 (the "Submission Deadline") and received by Macatawa Bank Marketing Department, PO Box 3119, Holland, MI 49422-3119, no later than December 16, 2011. One (1) winning team’s submission will be selected by the Contest Judges on or before January 13, 2012, and may be used as the concept for a commercial to be produced by Macatawa Bank. The contest will be administered by Macatawa Bank, its PR firm Sabo Public Relations, and Fox 17 (the "Administering Parties")
A. The Contest is open to all fulltime high school students enrolled in one of the 60, Macatawa Bank sponsored West Michigan high schools teaching Dave Ramsey’s "Foundations in Personal Finance" classes during the fall 2011 semester (August – December 2011).
B. No student may compete on more than one (1) team. Any team with a member registered with more than one (1) team shall be deemed ineligible.
C. Each team must have a sponsoring school that agrees to and accepts these Official Contest Rules. A school may sponsor more than one team.
D. Employees of the Administering Parties, and their parents, subsidiaries, affiliated companies, advertising and promotion agencies, immediate family members, and/or those living in the same household of anyone so employed or engaged are not eligible to compete in the Contest.
Registrations must be mailed to Macatawa Bank, Marketing Department, P.O. Box 3119, Holland, MI 49422-3119. Mailed registrations must be postmarked no later than November 1, 2011 and received no later than 5:00 pm E.S.T. on November 10, 2011.
A. Only submissions from registered teams will be accepted. All team submissions must be postmarked by December 9, 2011 and received at Macatawa Bank Marketing Department, PO Box 3119, Holland, MI 49422-3119, by 5:00 p.m. E.S.T. December 16, 2011, in order to be included in the judging. Late submissions will not be accepted. No team may enter more than one (1) submission for judging. Multiple entries from a team will result in the disqualification of all entries received from that team.
B. Submissions should address the following goals:
i. Produce a creative and effective 30 second television advertisement for Macatawa Bank
ii. Deliver core messages of the importance of financial saving
iii. Successfully strengthen consumer awareness for saving
iv. Communicate Macatawa Bank’s interest in helping customers save more so they meet their long term financial goals.
Only submissions adhering to the Required Deliverables listed below will be accepted for entry into the Contest. Two (2) separate CD or DVD copies of the submission are to be mailed to Macatawa Bank at the following address:

Submissions not received by 5 p.m. E.S.T. on December 16, 2011, will not be accepted.
C. The "Required Deliverables" include all of the following:
i. Two (2) electronic copies of the submission (commercial video) on CD or DVD. The CD or DVD submissions must be labeled as follows:
"Ravin About Savin"
"Team Name" (as assigned during registration)
ii. Proof of fulltime enrollment for each team member at his or her academic institution (unofficial transcript will suffice).
iii. Completed Affidavits of Eligibility from each team member.
5. Content and Assignment of Submissions:
A. Student teams may not contract with, or pay for, any outside consulting firm, agency, or other service for any assistance or guidance in the creation of Required Deliverables and/or Supplemental Materials. All Required Deliverables and/or Supplemental Materials must consist solely of the original work product of the team that submits each entry.
B. Upon submission, all Required Deliverables and Supplemental Materials (collectively, the "Materials") shall become the sole property of Macatawa Bank and will not be returned to the submitting team. In consideration of, and as a condition to, the eligibility of each entry under the terms of the Contest, each team member and their sponsoring school hereby assigns, transfers and conveys to Macatawa Bank, effective upon submission of the Materials, all right, title and interest in and to the Materials, including all associated copyright, trademark and other intellectual property rights, including all goodwill associated with those rights. Submitting parties will not be paid for submitted Materials or for the granting of any rights. Macatawa Bank is not obligated to use any submitted Materials. No credit will be given to the submitting parties if any submitted Materials are used. By entering the Contest, each team and its members also warrant and represent that the members of such team are the sole authors and creators of the Materials, that the Materials do not violate any applicable law, and that the Materials do not infringe or violate any intellectual property right held by a third party or any other agreement any team member may have with any third party. By submitting any Materials, each team and team member agrees to release, discharge, and hold harmless the Administering Parties, their parent corporations, subsidiaries, affiliated companies, licensees, and assigns, and their officers, directors, employees, agents, and representatives from any claim or liability arising from or related to the creation, submission and/or use of the Materials. Each team member shall sign a release and indemnity attesting, among other things, to the fact that they are the rightful owners of the submitted Materials and that the Materials may be used for all purposes without obtaining permission from, or making any payment to, any third party.
6. Selection of Finalists:
A. The Administering Parties will select the finalists from eligible submissions on or before January 13, 2012. All submissions will be evaluated, in the Administering Parties’ sole discretion, based on the following criteria:
i. Creativity and originality
ii. Relevance to theme
iii. Effectiveness of message delivery
iv. Adherence to the submission goals as described in Section 4(B) of these Official Rules
B. On or before January 13, 2012, the Administering Parties will select the top (1) team. The Administering Parties reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to select more than one (1) but no more than (2) finalists if a sufficient number of qualified and/or appropriate entries are received and award them an Honorable Mention Award with a cash award of $500. The decisions of the Administering Parties will be final and binding. The notes and written comments of the Administering Parties will not be disclosed.
7. Publicity and Public Use of Materials
A. Macatawa Bank shall have the right to use, record, copy, publish, edit, exhibit, distribute, perform, merchandise, license, sublicense, adapt and/or modify all Materials and presentations in any way, in any and all media, without any further compensation or consideration to any team, its members or its sponsoring school, other than eligibility in the Contest. All team members and their sponsoring school grant to the Administering Parties and their agents the worldwide, perpetual right and permission to use their names, likenesses, images, voice, quotes and statements that are in the Materials or recorded at any events described in Section 7(B) below in whole or in part in any form or manner the Administering Parties or their agents see fit. All team members waive any right to inspect or approve any such use of their names, likenesses, images, voices, quotes and statements. Macatawa Bank, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to post any Materials and presentations on the "Ravin about Savin" Contest website or other selected websites during or after the Contest, in perpetuity.
B. By submitting Materials, each team, its team members, and their sponsoring school agree to willingly participate in potential publicity engagements, media exposure, interviews, video and/or audio recordings, and all other events relevant to the promotion and publicity of the Contest. If a team is selected to participate in such events, each team member will be notified via phone and/or e-mail to confirm availability for such events. Participation in such events will have no bearing on the judging of a team’s submission to the Contest.
Prizes will be awarded as follows: The high school of the winning team (1) will receive a $2,000 cash donation, along with $500 for the winning students to be split equally among the student members. The Administering Parties may, in their sole discretion, award a $500 cash award to be split equally among the members of a team selected to receive an Honorable Mention Award. If any winner is under eighteen (18) years old, such prize will be delivered to his or her parent or legal guardian. No substitution of prizes is permitted, except that the Administering Parties reserve the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value in the event any prize cannot be awarded as stated. Prizes are non-transferable and may be subject to IRS tax reporting.
9. General Terms and Conditions
A. The Administering Parties shall not be responsible for any failed registrations or entries for any reason including without limitation those that are lost, late, damaged, delayed, incomplete, illegible, mutilated, misdirected, or on postage-due mail. Further, the Administering Parties shall not be responsible for any electronic, network, and server failures or malfunctions or other technical errors of any kind.
B. The winning team members will be notified by mail and/or phone within 5 business days of the judges determination of the winning entry at the address or phone number on the registration form. If a member of the winning team cannot be located, notification is returned, or winner does not respond to claim the prize within fourteen (14) days after notification, their portion of the prize will be split equally among the remaining team members; however, the winning team’s sponsoring school will still receive a cash donation as specified in these rules. If the winners cannot or do not accept the prize an alternate winning team shall be chosen. Within fourteen (14) days of notification each team member of the winning team will be required to sign a Prize Winner’s Affidavit of Eligibility and Release Form that will include the member’s social security number or tax ID for tax reporting purposes. If any winner is under eighteen (18) years old, his or her parent or legal guardian must sign the Prize Winner’s Affidavit of Eligibility and Release Form.
C. The Administering Parties reserve the right to cancel the 2nd Annual "Ravin about Savin" Commercial Contest for any reason that is deemed appropriate, including, without limitation, a computer virus, bug or other technical problem(s) that corrupts the administration or security or proper functioning of the Contest. Should the 2nd Annual "Ravin about Savin" Contest be cancelled prior to the Submission Deadline, notice will be e-mailed to all registered teams.
D. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED BY LAW. ALL UNITED STATES FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL LAWS APPLY. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN.
E. The Administering Parties reserve the right to amend these rules and policies at any time and without notice. Any changes will be posted online at macatawabank.com.
F. Winners of any prize are solely responsible for all applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
G. Each team, its members, and their sponsoring school agree that the Administering Parties and their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, employees, agents or other representatives of any kind shall not be responsible or liable for damages or losses of any kind arising out of or resulting from entry in this Contest, acceptance or use of a prize or any other matter related to the Contest, including, without limitation, claims based on property damage, personal injury and/or death, publicity rights, defamation or invasion of privacy.
H. The Administering Parties reserve the right, at their sole discretion, to disqualify any team found tampering with the 2nd Annual "Ravin about Savin" Commercial Contest or violating these Official Contest Rules. Any attempt by a team or any of its members to deliberately damage the Macatawa Bank "Ravin about Savin" Contest website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, the Administering Parties reserve the right to seek damages arising from such acts to the fullest extent of the law. If it is determined that the 2nd Annual "Ravin about Savin" Contest is compromised in any way, then, at their sole discretion, the Administering Parties can cancel the Contest. If any notification is returned as undeliverable, or if any team or its members violates these rules, the team will be disqualified.
I. By entering the Contest, each team, its members, and its sponsoring school, agree to abide by and be bound by all decisions of the Administering Parties and the judges relating to the Contest, which shall be final and binding in all respects, including but not limited to the Administering Parties’ determination of the winners.
J. If any portion of these Contest Rules is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, for any reason, that portion shall be severed from the rest.
K. Each team and team member acknowledges and agrees that the sole consideration for their agreement to the terms of these Official Rules is their eligibility for the Contest and they are not relying on any promise for future or further consideration or compensation or any other promise in agreeing to the terms of these Official Rules. Each team, team member, and sponsoring school understands that the Administering Parties and their agents will rely on the full and complete agreement of the team, its members, and its sponsoring school to the terms of these Official Rules at the potentially substantial cost to the Administering Parties and their agents.
L. Names of winners are available until March 30, 2012 at any Macatawa Bank branch or by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your request by March 30, 2012, to Macatawa Bank, Marketing Department, P.O. Box 3119, Holland, Michigan 49424-3119.
